Psychedelics overview
Substances that alter consciousness have been used for millennia by more cultures than not for communal and individual healing, community building, and sacred ceremony. There has been renewed scientific interest in using many of these medicines to treat mental health challenges (as we diagnose them in Western culture).
I feel called to include such treatments in my practice because I find they can accelerate psychotherapy, target some of the more developmental or root causes of suffering, and foster personal and spiritual growth in a way that can immensely benefit a healing journey. It is very important to me to ensure physical, psychological and emotional safety if we explore these possibilities together.
Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy
Ketamine is a medication approved in some forms by the FDA, and used in others off-label for the treatment of depression, suicidality, trauma, pain, and increasingly researched for uses in other conditions. It can help loosen strongly held negative beliefs and thought patterns, give greater access to subconscious mental and emotional processes, and for some, is associated with a mystical or spiritual experiences that can aid in the healing process.
Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (or KAP), although it can be fast-acting, is not a fix in itself. That is why I encourage KAP to be embedded into a broad treatment plan, that includes ample preparation and integration of the ketamine experiences.
I offer ketamine-assisted psychotherapy in my office, and collaborate with other therapists to increase access to this treatment in a container that is thoughtful, safe, and tailored to your needs specifically.
